Attorney Gerard W. Gaughan joined Hourigan, Kluger & Quinn (HK&Q®) in the fall of 2025 to continue his commitment to advocating for individuals and families affected by personal injury. He represents clients in a wide range of complex civil litigation matters, including motor vehicle collisions, medical malpractice, product liability, and catastrophic injury cases.
Before joining the firm, Attorney Gaughan spent several years practicing personal injury law. Prior to that, he served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Terrence R. Nealon of the Lackawanna County Court of Common Pleas, where he conducted extensive legal research and drafted judicial opinions in civil, medical malpractice, and personal injury matters. This experience provided him with a strong foundation in litigation strategy, trial preparation, and appellate advocacy.
Attorney Gaughan is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York, as well as the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
He earned his Juris Doctor from The Pennsylvania State University Dickinson School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts in Advertising and Public Relations from The Pennsylvania State University.
Attorney Gaughan has been recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star (2022–2025) and listed in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch (2024–2026) for excellence in litigation. He will be serving as President of the Luzerne County Bar Association Young Lawyers Division through the end of 2025, supporting professional development and community engagement initiatives for young attorneys.
